OneNote Tops Mavericks

Pretty impressive that Microsoft OneNote has managed to overtake the very operating system it runs on in the Top Free Apps on the Mac App Store. Of course, this could just be the nerd crew rushing to check it out, whether or not they stick with it remains to be seen.

I can’t see myself switching from my beloved Evernote yet, but I will give OneNote the benefit of the doubt and give it a try. Microsoft is playing this smart and making it a much more open platform than the Microsoft of the past would have. They have already enthusiastically embraced IFTTT (If This Then That). I will report back here with a comparison once I have a chance to try it out. If nothing else it will be good competition for Evernote, and healthy competition usually leads to all around improvement.

Interesting to point out that the entire top 10 list for free apps in the Mac App Store are apps from either Microsoft or Apple. The more things change…
